Above Cuff Vocalisation and External Subglottic Airflow for Tracheostomy Weaning

The session will be led by Jennifer Lee – Speech & Language Therapist, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust and Elizabeth Starbuck – Neurosurgery Physiotherapist, Salford Royal NHS Foundation Trust

Aims of the Session:

  • To provide an overview of what Above Cuff Vocalisation(ACV) and External Subglottic Airflow (ESAF)
  • ┬áTo discuss the benefits of ACV/ESAF as an adjunct to tracheostomy weaning
  • To support the need for an MDT approach to tracheostomy weaning in providing optimal patient outcomes
