The Brain Injury Social Work Group are holding a conference on 16th September called ‘Mad, Bad and Dangerous to Know: Brain Injury and its complex partners’
The GM Neuro-Rehab ODN Community Clinical Lead, Ashleigh Knowles, will be presenting at the conference. The day will also include discussions of case studies examining co-existing conditions including
substance abuse, alcoholism, homelessness, domestic violence and mental health issues.

Introduction to managing the neurogenic bowel in spinal cord injury study day is aimed at healthcare professionals interested in or working with individuals with neurogenic bowel dysfunction as a result of SCI
This study day will:
• Increase the delegates’ understanding of the impact of SCI on bowel function
• Raise awareness of appropriate management methods including the opportunity to view suitable products through demo sessions with invited exhibitors
• Provide information on how the delegate can improve bowel care provision for individuals with SCI

The workshop is open to anyone working within the Greater Manchester NHS Neuro-Rehabilitation inpatient or community services. The aim of the workshop will be to build on the successful collaboration between inpatient and community neuro-rehabilitation services.
Ashleigh Knowles, Greater Manchester Community Neuro-Rehabilitation Lead, will be holding an ‘Introduction to Functional Electrical Stimulation’ training event.
The event is open to people from Greater Manchester Neuro-Rehabilitation, Neuroscience and Stroke Services. This event is now fully booked. Please look out for a repeat of this training session next year if you missed out this time.
Following the success of the Introduction to Splinting Practical Course we held in March, we are planning to run the course again on Friday 4th October. The agenda for the course is attached and the aims of the course are listed at the end of this email. At this stage, we are opening the registration to anyone who works in Greater Manchester NHS Neuro-Rehabilitation services.
